Play Anything provides music therapy to individuals of all ages and abilities.
Sessions vary in length from 30 minutes to 1 hour and can involve a range of activities such as playing instruments, singing, moving to music, writing and recording songs and listening to music. Sessions may incorporate the use of familiar songs as well as improvisation which is facilitated by the music therapist.
Registered Music Therapist Carlin McLellan uses both traditional instruments and adaptive instruments to meet a wide range of abilities and interests. Sessions are guided by the goals and interests of each individual and tailored to meet their unique needs.
Research shows that music therapy can assist with communication and social skills, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor skills as well as memory, mood and attention. For individuals taking part in music therapy an initial assessment is conducted to determine goals and areas of focus.
