Call out for participants for the Polyphonic Youth Reference Group

Are you a young person who loves music?

We're seeking participants aged 12-18 to form a Youth Reference Group that will help design a new, inclusive songwriting program called Polyphonic. 

What's Involved?

Participants will attend three 1.5-hour-long
co-design sessions
. Co-design is an inclusive process of collaboration – it means you get to have a say in creating the programs that matter to you. The Youth Reference Group and Polyphonic program are open to young people with and without disability. People with any level of musical ability or interest are welcome to apply.

Sessions will be held in Cessnock and Broadmeadow. Participants will receive a $150 gift voucher for attending all three co-design sessions. All access needs will be provided for. If preferred, there is an option to do one-on-one interviews by phone or video call.

Dates

Cessnock: Monday 13 January, Thursday 16 January & Tuesday 21 January; all sessions 2:00-3:30pm.

Broadmeadow: Tuesday 14 January, Friday 17 January & Thursday 23 January; all sessions 2:00-3:30pm.

About Polyphonic

Polyphonic is a five-week long inclusive songwriting program, open to all young people aged 12-18 who have an interest in music. It will be rolled out in 2025 during Terms 2, 3 and 4. The program will support young people to learn about songwriting, recording and releasing music.   

 

Participants can attend either the Cessnock group or the Newcastle group. The program will be free to attend. There will be an end of program live music event for all participants in early 2026.

 

Polyphonic is supported by the Department of Social Services through the Information Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program.
